History

Through his early business in information technology in the 1980s Mr. Volker Loges was supporting a golf driving range with pro-shop in Berlin Germany with their IT needs. Ever since being fascinated by the sport he picked it up and decided to shift his career into golf business helping out on this aforementioned driving range and making contacts to other related businesses.

With the opening of the Berlin Wall in 1989, previously scarce land was suddenly available and the local golf market was virtually exploding with golf courses spreading all around the city. While all of these golf courses approached the top end of the market, building exclusive (and expensive) clubs, he was involved in planning, building and operation of the first public golf course. The exclusive clubs were struggling in this in-matured market while the public golf club became highly successful providing the much needed entry level.

From there he earned a top notch post grad diploma in golf business management and got involved in other golf clubs in Germany mainly establishing new management structures or implementing major changes.

When Mr. Loges got in touch with CCA, a club management company based in Hong Kong, he got the opportunity to move on an international level getting to know a lot of clubs from the inside and managing exclusive golf clubs like Macau Golf&Country Club and with Cengkareng Golf Club in Jakarta one of the most popular golf clubs in south east Asia.

After almost 20 years in day to day operational management he was looking for a new challenge and found it in going a step back to his roots in IT, studying technology and strategies of internet and e-commerce. In this respect he has developed an online golf game and other non-golf related internet and e-commerce solutions.

When a golf club that he previously managed asked him to review their current operation and position, the idea of a specialized golf club audit that looks at the whole picture was born.
From his experience external audits of golf clubs are usually conducted by accountants, who have no or only very limited understanding of golf club operation. Financials and reporting procedures are evaluated mostly in respect of risk but not in respect of customer service quality. The result is often a report which does not provide sufficient clues which are of value for the persons responsible for the club.
Through inside view and based on evaluation of many different golf clubs he developed a particular golf club audit which not only focuses on one particular area like financials but looks at the golf club at its whole.
As all areas from positioning over operation to financials are interconnected, relations are made clearer thus making it easier for golf club owners, presidents and general management to discover hidden problem areas as well as opportunities to improve their club.
